  1. AI agent : Good evening, you’re speaking with the restaurant’s digital assistant. I’m an AI. We’re closed right now, but I’m happy to help.
  2. Guest : Oh, great. Can I still book for Saturday?
  3. AI agent : Of course. How many people, and what time?
  4. Guest : Four of us, at half seven.
  5. AI agent : Half seven works. What name is it under?
  6. Guest : De Graaf. One of us is vegetarian.
  7. AI agent : All set: Saturday at half seven, four people, one vegetarian. See you then!

What it does

Every caller gets an answer, even when you’re busy

The agent knows your opening hours, your prices and the questions you hear every day. When it doesn’t know something, it puts the caller through or takes a call-back request.

  • Answers your phone

Answers questions, books appointments and takes messages. When a person would do better, it puts the caller through to you or a colleague.

  • Calls customers for you

Confirms appointments and calls customers back, only within the hours you choose. If nobody answers, it tries again later.

  • Talks to visitors on your website

With a talk button on your site, visitors ask their question out loud, to the same agent that answers your phone.

Trust

Sounds natural, and you stay in charge

You hear the agent yourself first. Once it’s live, you can listen in whenever you like.

  • Natural Dutch

Dutch voices and +31 numbers. It uses formal or informal address, as you prefer, and callers can interrupt it.

  • Test first, then go live

Talk to your agent in the browser yourself and adjust it until it sounds the way you want.

  • Listen in and take over

Listen in live, give the agent guidance the caller can’t hear, or take the call over.

  • A summary after every call

Read what was discussed and agreed, with the details you wanted to know.

How it works

Up and running without an IT department

Everything happens in your browser. Nothing to install, and you don’t need an AI account of your own.

  1. Tell it what to know

Your opening hours, prices, common questions and what it must never say. In your own words.

  2. Try it out

Pick a voice and talk to the agent in your browser until it sounds right.

  3. Forward your phone

Forward your number to the agent: always, or only when you don’t pick up. You get a summary after every call.

Your own AI keys, or an API? That works too.

Connect your own accounts with AI and telephony providers, or build Belvoy into your own software.

  • Your own keys for OpenAI, ElevenLabs, Anthropic, Google and more
  • REST API, signed webhooks and SDKs for TypeScript and Python
  • Tools that call your own systems, even behind your firewall

Privacy

Hosted in the EU, and you decide what’s kept

Belvoy runs on AWS in Frankfurt. A call also passes through the AI provider the agent uses; the app shows for each provider whether it processes data in the EU.

  • Hosted in Frankfurt

The application, the database and the recordings live at AWS in the eu-central-1 region.

  • Stored encrypted

Recordings are encrypted in storage. Access credentials are stored encrypted with AWS KMS.

  • You choose how long

Per agent you decide whether calls are recorded and how long they’re kept. After that they’re deleted automatically. Personal data in transcripts can be masked.

  • Says it’s an AI, right away

The agent says it’s an AI at the start of every call, as the EU AI Act requires. Anyone who doesn’t want to be called again goes on the opt-out list.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

If your question isn’t here, send it to hello@belvoy.nl.

Does the agent sound like a robot?

It speaks natural Dutch, in a voice that suits your business. Callers can interrupt it, and while it looks something up it says something like ‘one moment, let me check’. You talk to it in your browser yourself before it goes live. At the start of every call it does say it’s an AI.

How is this different from a voicebot or phone menu?

In a phone menu the caller presses a number, and a classic voicebot follows a fixed script. A Belvoy agent holds a normal conversation: it understands open questions, asks follow-ups and uses your own information. You decide what it may and may not do.

Do I need my own AI account?

No. Belvoy takes care of the AI and the technology behind it. If your business already works with AI providers such as OpenAI or ElevenLabs, you can connect those accounts too. The developer page has more on that.

What does it cost?

There are no fixed prices yet. Belvoy is in a private pilot, and we agree on what it costs you when you join.

Can I keep my current phone number?

Yes. You forward your current number to the agent’s number: always, only when you don’t pick up, or outside opening hours. You set up the forwarding with your own phone provider.

What if the agent can’t answer a question?

Then it puts the caller through to you or a colleague, or takes a call-back request, whichever you set up. You can also listen in live and take the call over.

Who owns the calls, and where are they stored?

Calls, transcripts and recordings are stored in your workspace, at AWS in Frankfurt. Per agent you decide whether calls are recorded and how long everything is kept; after that it’s deleted automatically. Personal data in transcripts can be masked. A call also passes through the AI provider the agent uses; the app shows for each provider whether it processes data in the EU.

Do I need to be able to code?

No. You set everything up in the app and test the agent in your browser. If you’re a developer, there’s also a REST API with webhooks and SDKs for TypeScript and Python.

How do I get access?

Belvoy is in a private pilot and access is by invitation. Use the form at the bottom of this page or email hello@belvoy.nl with who you are and what you want the agent to do.

About Belvoy

Made in the Netherlands

The name joins the Dutch ‘bellen’ (to call) and ‘envoy’: someone on the line on your behalf.

Belvoy is designed and built in the Netherlands. We’re starting with the Dutch language, Dutch numbers and hosting in the EU. The rest of Europe comes next.

During the pilot we read every request ourselves, which is why access is by invitation. Questions, ideas and criticism are welcome.
